Why this matters
Child protection is now a duty. The competence often isn't.
Since 2024/25, every school in Austria must act on child protection, yet training to recognise high-conflict parental dynamics is still missing almost everywhere. The professionals who meet these families, teachers, counsellors, social workers and HR teams, are left to navigate it without the tools.

What trained documentation looks like
A child arrives at school every second Monday, the day after contact: withdrawn and hostile toward her mother, tired, biting her nails, saying she wants to live with her father and worried about his wellbeing. By Wednesday she is herself again, settled, hard-working and affectionate with her mum, until the next Monday after contact. Trained staff recognised the pattern and recorded it factually: dates, times, observed behaviour and the child's own words.
Later, when the child was not returned after contact and allegations were made that the child could not explain in her own words, that record told a different, evidenced story. It documented staff's actual interactions, helped refute the allegations, and showed a pattern of attempts to influence the child, information a family court advisor could actually use.
That is the difference training makes: a calm, factual record that protects the child and holds up under scrutiny.
